Science is the body of knowledge of all things within the universe. By nature God, a creator must be autonomous from his creation. Logically, then, science is fundamentally unable to make a determination on the existence of God.

Believing science can disprove God's existence is like Gandalf believing he can disprove J.R.R. Tolkien's existence with a magical seeing stone.

  1. This is correct, but I rarely see atheists making this logical mistake. What I find more common is theists making the logical mistake of thinking that the inability to disprove the existence of God somehow gives a measure of credibility to their position. If anything it actually undermines their position by admitting a lack of knowledge of the existence of God.
